Perhaps the best 12 inch woofer Altec ever made.

    Free shipping too!

Paypal makes that almost moot. Clear communication on adequate padding/packing is probably the most important factor.

Hopefully they haven't tried to remove either woofer from the motorboard. It should be ensured that no dope has migrated which can result in torn gaskets and cones if hastily removed.

I've seen different magnet configurations on 414s. Are these the Alnico or ceramic version?

Same cast return pot as used on the 416-8B. The big question is "does it use the same size alnico slug as the 416?". I'd really like a supported answer to that question.

    Noperoonie.

    2.4 pounds 416B

    416-8B

    1.8 pounds 416c

If the magnet was kept the same would have been a substantial mid band gain as the 414 has lower moving mass. See someone who knows what they are talking about, say like GM, if you want a better answer.

Thanks OG, i never thought to look for it on the GPA site.

Someday we really need to condense a library with all this stuff in a single location.

I would have guessed they used the same mag slug as earlier 414's based on the sensitivity of the systems using them. But, i hate guessing since that usually fails when it's important.

If the magnet was kept the same would have been a substantial mid band gain as the 414 has lower moving mass.
Aaaaaaahhhhh, this is why we don't recone 417H as a 414.

Would a solution be as simple as adding mass to bring the 414 cone weight up to that of the 416 assembly?
